MERTHYR ROCK 2011 FILM COMPETITION
The organisers of Merthyr Rock are excited to be working with Gingenious studio on a fresh way of showing support for the South Wales Music scene while offering people invaluable experience in shooting live events and gigs, sharing experiences and getting to know people in the music industry.
Merthyr Rock is looking for five people with some video experience who want to be involved in filming across the weekend at Merthyr Rocks. A DSLR camera (Canon 550D upwards) is preferable, but filmmakers who use different equipment won’t be excluded. We’re looking for people who have a showreel or something they’ve done in the past that they can send to us for judging.
Each person will be assigned a task each day to film. Might be to film crowds, might be to film more specific things. May even be asked to be involved with Gingenious team at different points. At the end of each day they’ll drop their footage off with us to copy onto master disk. They can then do what they like with that footage, but will be asked to send through anything they do themselves for approval first.
Gingenious was started in 2007 by Ben Smith. In the last year, Gingenious has made videos for Kids in Glass Houses, Funeral For A Friend, The Blackout!, Tiger Please, Straight Lines, Save Your Breath, Cuba Cuba, Rise to Remain, The Crave & Town.

The full bill for the festival, which takes place at Cyfarthfa Park on September 3-4, has now been announced and includes The Blackout, Funeral for a Friend and Skindred.Cyfarthfa Park and cement a wonderful line up for this new addition to Wale’s great portfolio of festivals.
