ENGLAND MAY BE OUT BUT WORLD CUP SQUAD IS STILL GOING STRONG
While the whole world has gone football crazy (judging by the crass flags, rammed sports bars and complete lack of anything non-football related on the box) one group of Bristol musicians are putting a creative spin on the massive event.
The masterminds behind Bristol-band Olo Worms have decided to create a 20 plus-strong collective of musicians who only make music during World Cups – yes, that’s once every four years.
World Cup Squad member and Olo Worms singer James Hankins explains: “It’s all about having a laugh and messing about when we’re watching the matches but as soon as it’s over we stop until the next World Cup.
When I told people about the idea we had more than 20 people from all over the world expressing an interest. I thought ‘if I don’t do it, someone else will’.
And although England’s hopes were dashed by a 4-1 defeat at the hands of their old foes the Germans this World Cup Squad are carrying on.
