You might have already read about the Smirnoff Original Nights bursaries in the current edition of 247 Magazine, but to get you up to speed, the initiative has been set up to discover, support and celebrate the most forward thinking promoters in the country.  Smirnoff are providing bursaries of £2000 for any promoters who come up with truly original ideas for club nights.

With people like Rob da Bank and Mark Ronson’s agent Cris Hearn on the judging panel, you know that your ideas have to be top notch – and that’s just what they thought of Saul Minshall’s idea for his new night, Monkey!Flash!Light! Party!  Saul’s night at the Thekla in Bristol will see the infamous clubbing boat solely illuminated by torchlight, with rockin’ hip hop DJ Feadz and the award winning underground dance DJ Duke Dumont on the decks next Friday (20 March).

Rob da Bank told us, “I am very taken with the Smirnoff Night Vision initiative for promoters. I started out as promoter putting on Sunday Best events with a £1.99 entrance fee, and now have my own Bestival and Camp Bestival festivals for up to 35,000 people. I’m delighted to help select some of the country’s most unique and original new music promoters.”  Bursaries of £2,000 are still available for anyone across Great Britain who has an idea for an original night to help get their idea off the ground.  To qualify for the bursaries, all you hopefuls need to do is join the Night Vision Facebook page and convince the experts involved that your idea is original enough to make the cut.

And don’t forget to check out Saul’s party at the Thekla!
