Wallace Reid Night: Bristol Silents Club Screening
Please note that this club Screening has now moved to April 2014. This is down to a change in the Bristol Silents Club Screening Schedule for late 2013. This will now happen in early 2014.
April’s Club Screening will pay tribute to Wallace Reid (1892 – 1923) who was, in many, a walking film studio. The man did everything and died way too young.
Handsome, clean-cut star of the late 1910s who frequently directed, and sometimes wrote, his own vehicles. Son of a well-known actor and playwright, Reid got his start acting as a child. After prep school and some time spent editing a racecar magazine, he entered films in earnest in 1910. The handsome, dark-haired Reid worked as an actor, cameraman, stuntman and screenwriter for such companies as Vitagraph, Reliance, Universal and American for the next few years.
Intro by BBC Bristol and Bristol Silents’ James Harrison.
