Ruarri JosephTouring the beaches of Spain, France, Portugal, Italy and the UK, the Rip Curl & Hawaiian Tropic Girls Tour stops off in St Ives on 28/29th JULY. Tuesday 28 will also see a free night of music at St Ives Crow Rooms venue with a headline set from Cornwall’s own Ruarri Joseph plus support from recent RCA signing Max Tuohy.

The Rip Curl & Hawaiian Tropic Girls Tour offers girls the chance to throw themselves in, learning from scratch or trying new tricks and manoeuvres surrounded by qualified instructors and professional Rip Curl riders. The event is exclusively for girls – offering inspiration and confidence to any girl who wants to try something new or enhance their technique.

This year lessons are free too, so anyone can get involved in the fun filled Girls Tour. The tour takes on a Hawaiian theme this summer with a chance to take part in Hula dancing classes, watch Pirogue demonstrations and have lessons, learn about Rip Curl’s worldwide environmental projects, join in art workshops with this seasons Artist of the Search designer Heather Brown and meet Rip Curl’s team, including current World Junior Champ 2009 Pauline Ado and European Champion 2008 Justine Dupont.

This summer the Rip Curl & Hawaiian Tropic Girls Tour is served with a little twist. Girls from all over the UK will also be able to compete in a Rip Curl Girls Tour pro/am surf competition in association with Cornwall Surfer Girls. Cornwall Surfer Girls is a BSA affiliated club for surfer girls of all ages and abilities, with the aim of supporting and promoting progression in girls’surfing and creating a network and community of girl surfers in Cornwall. This year’s pro/am competition will be judged as a series, girls will accumulate points at each venue and the top performers will compete in the finals at St Ives for a £1000 prize.

The night of music and fun will be for the girls to let their hair down after a day on the water, and each girl will go home with a tip top goody bag full of girl’s essentials including Rip Curl and Hawaiian Tropic treats.

The live at the Crow Rooms will see Ruarri Joseph and his band take to the stage for a rare performance in the county. Last time Ruarri played a show with his band in Cornwall was a sold out show at the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth to celebrate the launch of his second critically acclaimed, album ‘Both Sides of the Coin’. Those that were at that show will know what a brilliant gig it was and that this a rare chance to see Ruarri and co in such intimate surroundings.

Since that show Ruarri has been busy playing shows all over the place with the likes of Newton Faulkner and Jason Mraz and has recently released third single from the album ‘More than Most’.

Support on the night comes from Max Tuohy who is making waves nationwide and has recently been signed to RCA, you can expect big things from the young Max. Don’t miss this chance to see both of these great live acts at this special one off event, and for free!

THIS SHOW IS FREE ENTRY, DOORS 8pm until late.
