FREE SURF LESSONS FOR GIRLS: RIP CURL TOUR HITS NEWQUAY AND BOURNEMOUTH
The Rip Curl & Hawaiian Tropic Girls Tour 2010 is ready to turn up the volume this weekend at Fistral Beach, Newquay before heading to Boscombe Beach, Bournemouth on the 13-14 July. The popular annual events are set to rip up 5 countries and 11 mythical spots across Europe for 2010, with Newquay being the first UK stop to enjoy a mix of music and surf themed fun days and nights with concerts on the beach, there’s twice as much fun for the girls!
During the day at Fistral Beach and Boscombe Beach certified surf instructors will provide free surf lessons alongside Tahitian longboarder and Rip Curl icon Hanalei Reponty, while all new for 2010, a team of experienced female DJs will be on hand with complimentary DJ workshops, showing the budding surfers how to spin some tunes on the decks. The fun continues for everyone on the beach as the sun goes down on the first night of each tour stop as the internationally renowned DJ Elisa Do Brasil brings a touch of Brazilian heat with the ‘Sunset Sessions’, playing a sizzling mix of breaks and beats, as the crowd dance into the evening with warm sand between their toes.
Speaking about the UK events, longboarder Hanalei said, “I’m really looking forward to the Girls Tour hitting Newquay and Bournemouth this year and kicking off the UK’s summer of surf. The girls who attend are always super stoked and I’m looking forward to sharing surf tips with them in the water, plus the addition of DJ lessons and live sets right on the beach from DJ Elisa Do Brasil will mean that we’re definitely bringing the party to Fistral and Boscombe this year.”
The Girls Tour DJ and Surf lessons are 100 per cent free and just for girls (over 15 years old) but as the sun goes down and the music gets turned up the concert is free for everyone to enjoy. To join in the fun before you head to the beach, go to the 2010 Girls Tour website which features cool musical gadgets, including a digital mixing deck where you can mix Hawaiian Tropic’s sounds (like the ukulele, or crashing waves), with Rip Curl’s rock rhythms (electric guitar, drums). You can even create your own tunes, record them, and send them to your Facebook page to obtain as many votes as possible! The highest scoring entries can win all sorts of prizes including a weekend away with the girls to one of the tour stops.
