Friday 16 July will see yet another exceptional night of live music in the basement of Truro’s Wig & Pen featuring local bands iPony and Cubs along with a very special performance from one of London’s hottest new acts Pippa Marias.
After some timeout and recording their album with Dare Mason at his VIP Studios in Penzance, iPony are finally back with their intense, high energy, high octane collaboration of locally inspired party-starting dance floor whirlwind hits.
Front man Sam Strick says “It’s a slight change in direction for us, when we first started we were definitely a synth driven, power-pop / punk band. The newer songs are more guitar orientated. At the live shows the new songs are getting the same reaction as the older ‘favourites’. Our aim has always been to write energetic, punchy, powerful songs” added Sam.
The album ‘Gunpowder’ will be available to purchase on the night.
Scandinavian born “with Anglo hearts”, Pippa Marias are a London based indie/electro group that are part of the present and the future. They have already headlined several of London’s top venues and their first EP has just been recorded with a producer Paul Tipler.
The live shows are always full of energy and Pippa Marias are ready to please crowds and win fans over with their magnetic stage presence. Within their so far short career they have already become the talk of Camden Town and are currently on the verge exciting new prospects. Although not unfamiliar with Cornish soil this will be the first ever show this exciting new 4 piece will have played in the county, be sure not to miss this treat.
Opening act Cubs are an indie/alternative pop act that have been orbiting the local indie scene for some time now having already played shows with the likes of San Pablo and iPony. Here they play the Wig & Pen for the first time with their Maccabees meets Bombay Bicycle Club perfect indie pop.
Plus Indie/Electro DJ from residents The Earls Of Suave.
