WIN TICKETS TO SEE THE FARMER’S WIFE IN EXETER
Creative Cow productions are bringing Eden Phillpotts’ hilarioius Devon play, The Farmer’s Wife, to Exeter this summer and we’ve bagged a couple of tickets to giveaway.
Written by Phillpotts in 1916, The Farmer’s Wife was subsequently made in to a silent movie by Alfred Hitchcock in 1928.
Set in Little Silver, near Plymouth, it is an entertaining and delightful romp.Recently widowed Farmer Sweetland wants a new wife. He confides in Miss Araminta Dench his housekeeper, who selflessly undertakes to help him in his quest for a suitable spouse. One by one, the eligible and the not so eligible, the young and the not so young, ladies of Little Silver fall by the wayside as he endeavours to woo them. The rural parish ignites in indignation and confusion while there, on his doorstep, is a doting and perfect wife. Will the old codger eventually see the treasure he is missing? We are pleased to welcome Tony Beard – the well known “Wag from Widecombe” who will play Farmer Sweetland. We are also delighted to have BBC Radio Devon’s Douglas Mounce and Jo Loosemore in the cast – alongside Creative Cow’s professional actors…Katherine Senior, Jonathan Parish, Harvey Robinson and Edward Ferrow. Live music from local musicians and Glee singers will complete the ensemble. Book your seats now for this gem of a show.
The performances will take place at the New Theatre, Friars Gate, Exeter from 27th August to 11th September and will start at 7.30pm with matinees on 4th and 11th September at 2pm (there will be no performance on 3rd September).
