MUSIC LEGENDS DON LETTS AND STEVEN SEVERIN TO VISIT EXETER PICTUREHOUSE
Legendary musician, DJ and filmmaker, Don Letts has chronicled the history of punk and reggae through film and music. He will be in the Exeter Picturehouse on Thursday 28 October to answer questions live in person, following the screening of his latest film, Superstonic Sound at 8.30pm, which tells the story of bass through three generations of his family that have worked in the music industry.
In an exciting double bill, there will also be a screening of Don Letts’ film Strummerville, which charts how the legacy of the late great Joe Strummer of The Clash, which has been kept alive through the charity Strummerville that supports aspiring musicians.
This is a rare opportunity to meet Don Letts in person, who has long been associated with the work of The Clash and who found fame and musical recognition during the 1980s with the chart-hitting band Big Audio Dynamite.
Acclaimed solo artist and founder member of the legendary Siouxsie and the Banshees, Steven Severin embarks on his debut solo UK tour this autumn, courtesy of the Picturehouse chain of cinemas.
During their reign, Siouxsie & the Banshees established themselves as one of the foremost alternative artists and the only survivors of the London punk scene to evolve, innovate and succeed until their final demise in 2002. Severin has since committed himself almost exclusively to scoring for film & TV.
Severin is playing 26 dates in the UK, that will give audiences their first chance to hear his new score for “Le Sang d’un Poete (Blood Of A Poet)”, Jean Cocteau’s 1930 black & white surrealist classic. He visits Exeter Picturehouse on Sunday 31 October at 4pm.
