PULP TO REFORM FOR 2011 FESTIVAL SEASON
Britpop legends Pulp have announced they will reform for a series of festival appearances next year.
The Sheffield group, fronted by the distinctive Jarvis Cocker, will headline the Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park on July 3 several weeks after they play a gig at Primavera Sound in Barcelona at the end of May.
It comes just weeks after Jarvis Cocker played a London gig with former bandmate Richard Hawley and legendary US guitarist Duane Eddy as part of the Jack Daniels Birthday gig.
When asked whether Pulp may ever play together again, Jarvis replied that they were all still good friends giving fans a glimmer of hope for a reunion.
Now he’s realised those hopes and confirmed Pulp, who split up in 2002, will play together for the first time in more than 10 years.
Pulp were most famous for their hit songs Common People and Disco 2000 and 47-year-old Jarvis for stage diving a Michael Jackson set at the Brit Awards in 1996.
A spokesman said: “Pulp have decided to get together and play some concerts next summer.
“The shows will involve all the original members of the band… and they will be playing songs from all periods of their career.”
Tickets available from 9am on Thursday November 11 at www.wirelessfestival.co.uk/2011/
