SUZANNE VEGA HEADLINES HOME IN DARTINGTON, DEVON
American songstress Suzanne Vega is set to headline acoustic festival ‘Home’ taking place on the 24th and 25th June. Based in the beautiful setting of Dartington Hall in Devon, the festival boasts its unplugged approach to the event. Known for her Americana folk-inspired songs, Vega rose to fame back in 1985 with her self-titled debut album. In 1987, her second slbum ‘Solitude Standing’ went platinum and is still known as her most successful and critically acclaimed work. Expect to hear tunes such as ‘Tom’s Diner’ and the ever-affecting ‘Luka.’ Continuing on from a successful first year back in 2010, Home have decided to expand the festival into a two day period. Boasting three stages celebrating music, voice and language ‘Home’ offers an intimate setting of cultural diversity. Friday night will play host to the Sitar Funk Ensemble, the award-winning independent black dance company ‘State of Emergencies’ and a DJ set from electro loving Max Pashm. On Saturday, Vega will be joined by the likes of Malian guitar group Tamikrest, sitar player Sheema Mukherjee and the travelling band of Alejandro Toledo & The Magic Tombolinos among many more. The festival will also be offering an array of food, feature films, workshops and family events. Children will be entertained with face painting, treasure hunting and a traditional fair. Camping will be available ten minutes from the main stages at £7 per person, as well as limited space for camper vans. Alternatively, overnight accommodation is available in Dartington Hall courtyard. More info at www.dartington.org/home
