Bristol is now home to 80 iconic giant 5ft high sculptures of Gromit, decorated by invited artists, and placed in locations throughout the city and beyond. Led by Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal and Aardman Animations, Gromit Unleashed is a public art exhibition in which giant sculptures of Gromit, decorated by invited artists, have been unleashed on the streets of Bristol and the surrounding area. At the end of the art trail in September, the sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.

Various local businesses have sponsored each Gromit, amongst these are popular music venue, Bristol’s O2 Academy. Their Gromit has been designed by Sir Peter Blake and is an eye-catching ‘Hound Dog’; now on display at Arnolfini, in the heart of Bristol’s harbourside, until Sunday 8th September.

For the next 10 weeks, Gromit Unleashed is now set to be one of the Bristol’s biggest visitor attractions, a ground-breaking public art campaign to support Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal

“As dog lovers, modern art fans, and Elvis people, we could not be happier with our “Hound Dog”. He captures the comedic, tongue in cheek spirit of Aardman and Wallace & Gromit beautifully and we’re sure it will be one of the many highlights of this fantastic event. You could say we’re “All Shook Up!” says O2 Academy Bristol’s Promotions Manager, Dan Chandler

Visitors can also download the app, to find exclusive news about the art trail for all 80 Gromits, audio, film content and achievements to unlock and download a Trail Map from the official website. All proceeds from the app will go to the Grand Appeal and all Gromits will be auctioned off after the trail has ended.
