LIVE&UNSIGNED COMPETITION GIVES LOCAL BANDS THE CHANCE TO PLAY GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL 2011
Audition dates for Live and Unsigned 2011 have just been announced – Avon and Somerset Police are launching their third Live and Unsigned competition seeking new talent from across the area. The competition challenges aspiring young musicians to battle it out for a money-can’t-buy opportunity – the chance to get themselves on the line-up for Glastonbury Festival 2011.
Live and Unsigned 2010 was a huge success. Bands from across South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Bath and Somerset applied to the competition and judges witnessed a host of unsigned talent perform throughout the competition stages from the district heats to the semi-finals culminating in a nail biting final at Bristol’s Colston Hall.
Acoustic duo “Two in a Boat” fought off seven other finalists to take the top spot, leading them join the likes of The Gorillaz, Muse, Scissor Sisters and Stevie Wonder on the line-up for the 2010 Glastonbury Festival.
The talented “two” in the boat, Ollie Williams and Nathan Searle both 17 and from Bristol, went down a storm as they played the BBC Introducing Stage to a packed audience resulting in queues to buy their album at the end of the set.
The 2011 competition is set to be even bigger and better. Sponsored by Stage Electrics, John Lewis and The Colston Hall and with venues, prizes and judges currently being confirmed, young artists from across the region shouldn’t miss out on their chance to try and make it to the 2011 Glastonbury Festival.
Celebrity and music industry judges won’t just be inspiring young hopefuls with their presence, the 12 bands and artists that make it through to the semi-finals stages will work on their material with the judges in a day-long workshop. Other prizes are also up for grabs so watch this space.
