LOCAL MUSIC STUDENTS TO STAGE FREE LIVE EVENT
On Friday April 1st, degree students from Plymouth’s dBs Music will be staging a free multimedia gig at dBs Live in Plymouth. The evening has been titled ‘Project Warp’ and has been dubbed a ‘Mind Expanding Electronica Audio Visual Experience’. Project Warp will showcase an eclectic mix of innovative performances including sonic art, ambient electronica and techno. The music will accompanied by cutting experimental video art and visuals, incorporating alternative techniques such as projection mapping audio synchronised lighting. The venue’s lighting rig is also being overhauled especially for this event and a dedicated team from City College Plymouth will be controlling this system throughout the evening.
Chris Pratt, Course Leader, said; “The event is about taking the skills that the Sound and Music Technology degree students have been developing in the studio and transferring them to the stage. Using a selection of cutting edge synthesis, sampling, digital signal processing and control technologies, the students have been preparing for weeks to create a selection of completely original compositions, which will all be performed 100% live”
The performers will be also supported by students from dBs Music’s Live Sound degree. This close support from the Live Sound team will enable many of the performances to take advantage of a surround sound system installed especially for the event. Acts scheduled to perform include Ben Solo, An Earth Without People, Tambourine Dream, Uranium Club, The April Fools, Jonathan_Camel, Enigmagnetic, Zeitgeist, Lizzie Corish & MC L.S, Lab Coat and Project 2.
The event takes place at 7pm on Friday 1st April at dBs Live (formally The Hippo), 9 Bath Street, PL1 3LT Plymouth. Tickets for the event are free and are available at www.dbsmusic.co.uk/warp
