Sunday Club at Start the Bus Bristol has provided the perfect ending to the weekend for many months but sadly this excellent night is coming to an end – but not before one final big gig. Organisers have secured indie underdogs Allo Darlin’ (who played last year’s End of the Road Festival) , Los Campesinos and Darren Hayman tourmates The Loves, from the much-loved London-based Track and Field indie label, and Dorset’s Not Made In China (who we reviewed on our demos pages last year) for the event on Sunday January 30. And you want to hear the best bit? The gig, which starts at 10pm, is free of charge! Allo Darlin’ are a breath of fresh air breezing through stale music everywhere. Elizabeth Morris’ thoughtful yet playful creations are achingly personal, incredibly poignant and familiar all at once. Incorporating tunes that you think you must have heard before, she twists them into something new and highly intoxicating. Their most recent single “My Heart is a Drummer” won Steve Lamacq’s rebel playlist on 6 music (again!) and has one of the most charming videos you will have seen all year, directed by Joseph Brett and End of the Road Festival founder Simon Taffe which you can watch HERE. The following night on January 31, Allo Darlin play 10 Feet Tall in Cardiff. Tickets £5 in advance or £7 on the door.
