BARNSTORMING MOUNTAIN BIKE RACING IN DEVON
Aside from a love of music and going out partying, some of us here at 247 are the active, sporty types, with an adventurous streak throw in for good measure too. Amongst other things, we play around on mountain bikes quite a bit, getting muddy whilst exploring the offroad delights of the Dartmoor, The Quantocks, and the mountains in Wales. Some of us take things a little more seriously and take part in competitive races too…
With this in mind, when we heard about our friends at Shred Magazine in Plymouth had come up with a ‘one of a kind’ short course, indoor cross country format, in a local farmers HUGE barn, we couldn’t help ourselves but get involved.
As much as we love sport though, there are times where we just like to relax too, whether it’s watching TV, playing a game of partypoker or just having a cheeky nap. Sports are very physically exhausting, so it is important to take rests and recharge before you attempt to exercise any more.
Taking place on Sat 23rd April, the cycle racing will be in an eliminator heat format, with each race being two laps, which equates to around two minutes of racing. Each heat will have between 6-8 riders. Each rider will get open practice time, two practice events, at least one eliminator race. This is a ‘run what you brung’ event – any bike will do! So expect MTB, BMX, dirt bike, cyclocross, but no engines!
247 Magazine are supplying the soundtrack for the whole day on a phat sound system, as well some ‘yet to be announced surprises’ to spice things up inbetween the racing too.
The day runs from 12pm – 6pm or so and will be held at Wheeldon Farm, Halwell, Totnes, Devon, TQ9 7JY.
